Overview for 2009
We are going
to read through the 5 selections (listed above) consecutively. As
you read, write down any impressions or thoughts that may be helpful to
you in your life.
December you are welcome to choose a Christmas literature selection of
your choice in addition to finishing The Scarlet Pimpernel.
Keep a notebook.
The notebook can be used for thoughts and impressions, summaries,
helpful to read with a commonplace book or reading-diary, in which to
down any striking thought in your author, or your own impression of the
work, or of any part of it; but not summaries of facts. Such a diary,
kept through life, should be exceedingly interesting as containing the
intellectual history of the writer; besides, we never forget the book
we have made extracts from, and of which we have taken the trouble to
a short review.”
