As
at age 4, some children will be reading on their own. Some of the
books on the list are at a beginning reading level, others are for reading
aloud together. You can decide how many to assign and how many to
read together, depending on your child's abilities. Reading to a
child creates a special bond between parent and child. Never stop
reading to your children, whatever their age! Somc books from the
6 - 9 year old lists are good choices for read aloud as well.
