Divinity Overview for 2010

Mountaineer

1. Read from the Book of Mormon regularly (daily if possible, even if only 1 verse).

2. Read and study The Old Testament to be prepared for the Gospel Doctrine lesson each week.  (Refer to the Old Testament Class Member Study Guide)

3. Read and be prepared for the Relief Society Lessons from the revised Gospel Principles manual. Usually there are 2 of these lessons each month. Check your own ward/stake calendar and schedule to see what you need to read. Read these lessons before 
they are covered in R.S.

4. Read each month's Ensign magazine from cover to cover.  If you would like to spread the conference issues out longer (May and November), you can choose to read 2 or 3 articles a week.  Then in the months of May and November you can catch up on other Ensigns you may not have finished yet.

5.  Keep a Divinity Journal.  In the journal you can record any thoughts, impressions and spiritual experiences you may have during your study.  You could list scriptures that influence you.  Also include copywork of the hymns you memorize, passages from any of the readings, and scriptures you especially like.  Writing summaries of the readings could also be an aspect of the Divinity Journal.

Inspirator

1. Complete all assignments from the Mountaineer level.

2. Choose an additional resource to help with your study of the Old Testament for Gospel Doctrine classes.

3.  Read and memorize one hymn or primary song each month. Try to learn all the verses but at least memorize the first verse. Ponder on the words of the hymn/song and write down any thoughts you have. Play the hymn/song during the month -- CD's & tapes with or without words are available through the Distribution Center, or listen free online at

  • Read and be prepared for the Relief Society Lessons from the revised Gospel Principles manual. Usually there are 2 of these lessons each month. Check your own ward/stake calendar and schedule to see what you need to read. Read these lessons before they are covered in R.S.
  • Read the October 2010 Ensign magazine from cover to cover. (You could also read 2 - 3 articles a week from the May 2010 Ensign - Conference issue.)
  • Keep a Divinity Journal.
Inspirator
