~Nature Study~

Nature Study is an enjoyable and enriching part of our homeschool.  We wanted to incorporate it more and so we worked out a six year rotating nature study plan.  Each year we study a different field of nature and learn about the species native to our area in that field.  We decided to devote an hour or more on Friday each week to Nature Study.  We also take field trips on Saturdays, especially in the warmer months.  We create a notebook, draw in a nature journal, and take nature walks.  We work to learn to recognize the different species native to our province.  It is so nice to be in nature and be able to identify plants and animals without referring to a field guide.
