Education Overview for 2006

1. We are reading both Volume 2 and Volume 6 of The Original Homeschooling Series by Charlotte M. Mason this year.  You can choose to read one or both.  We will be reading Volume 6 every year, so if you don't get to it this year, you can always join in next year.  There are monthly reading assignments for each volume starting with Volume 2.  In July we will move on to Volume 6.  Record your favorite ideas/quotes and also jot down plans for implementation in your notebook.  You may find the questions in the back of volume 2 helpful as you embark on your discovery.

2.  Read the monthly assignment from either Teach Ye Diligently or Climbing Parnassus.  We will be reading Teach Ye Diligently from January to June and Climbing Parnassus from July to December.  Add any notes, thoughts and impressions from your readings to your notebook.

3.  In the months of April to August we will be reading the biography of Neal A. Maxwell - A Disciple's Life by Bruce C. Hafen.  Elder Maxwell was a great educator.

3. Read the selected education articles for enrichment/discussion  There are about 12
articles spaced out over the year.  See the monthly assignment schedule.  If you wish to read more articles you can find suggestions here: Spirituality and Learning (Provident Living)

4. Keep a notebook.  You can develop this notebook however you wish, make it work for you.  You might like to have sections for your different children and write down ideas from your studies that will be beneficial to each child.
