A Musical Year Through Hymn & Song
by Katrina Lybbert

Weeks 1 - 5

For each hymn/song you will find a list of suggested articles, poems, lesson ideas, extra scriptures, or internet references etc.  We choose one or two of these suggestions to include in our Sunday lessons for that hymn/song.

Week 1 (Dec. 30th, 2001)

Ring Out, Wild Bells (Hymn # 215)

Week 2 (Jan. 6th, 2002)

I Pledge Myself to Love the Right (CS pg. 161)

Week 3 (Jan. 13th, 2002)

As Zion's Youth in Latter Days (Hymn # 256)

Week 4 (Jan. 20th, 2002)

Once There Was a Snowman (CS pg. 249)

Week 5 (Jan. 27th, 2002)

The Wintry Day, Descending to Its Close (Hymn # 37)

  • There are some difficult vocabulary words in this hymn for young children.  Spend some time looking up the following words and discussing their meanings: repose, dense, sable, shroud, pall, linger, meditation, rove, exiled, solitude, vale.
  • Exploring: Deseret (Friend - Dec. 1993, pg. 36)
  • Winter's Dream (New Era - Jan. 1999, pg. 51)
